The President of each of the nine member associations appoints a representative to the Finger Lakes Regional Watershed Alliance every year.

Board President – Don Cook

Don grew up in Phelps, NY and attended Geneva City Schools. He graduated SUNY Cortland in 1970 and went ot a Masters in Educational Administration and Superintendent’s Certification from Brockport. During his 32 year career at Greece Central School district he coordinated the Participation in Government class for seniors.

He and his wife of 44 years, Elaine, have spent many years with their family boating,skiing and swimming in the Finger Lakes. This includes living part time in Casile, New York on Silver Lake for over 23 years. They moved to Honeoye Lake where Don has been a member of the Honeoye Valley Association board of directors for 15 years, and
Ontario County Water Resources Council for 9 years. He coordinated the annual roadside cleanup for 10 years
has coordinated the plant survey of Honeoye Lake for 7 years.
Don had been a NYSFOLA board member for 22 years and  NYSFOLA Western Regional Conference for 22 years.

 

Buzz-Roberts

Vice President- Buzz Roberts

Buzz grew up in Penn Yan on Keuka Lake and now has a home on Skaneateles Lake. He and his wife have always recognized the need to preserve the natural beauty of the Finger Lakes Region. Buzz is active in many lake and watershed organizations and is a valued member of the environmental community. Here’s a brief overview of his varied and many accomplishments.

Treasurer – Don Wright

Don spent most of his adult life as a financial adviser in Rochester, NY. He is now semi retired, living year round in the East Bluff Drive home purchased by this father in 1958. Having Keuka roots since youth, he has a strong commitment to the community.

Don served as financial advisor and branch manager for Advest, Inc, for 20 years.  He was a  vice president and financial advisor for Merrill Lynch until retiring in 2009.  Since 1986, Don has been a dispute resolution arbitrator for the New York Stock Exchange.  His three children and 4 grandchildren congregate annually at Keuka from CA, DC, and MO.  He has active involvement in boating, home improvement, portfolio management, travel and grandchildren.

Margaret G. Creamer- Secretary

Margie has appreciated the beauty of the eastern most Finger Lake, Otisco Lake, since purchasing property in 1985. She became involved with the Otisco Lake Preservation Association in 2009. Margie rode many buses to protect the watershed from fracking and its impact on the Finger Lakes fresh water. She participated in Cornell Cooperative Extension’s Master Watershed Steward Program.

Additionally Margie is a computer/digital training business owner, teaching ipad classes at OCC and substitute teaching at Fayetteville Manlius schools.

In December, 2010, the Alliance Board met for the first time. The founding Board members, pictured in the back row, were Phil Cianciotto (Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association), Jim Barre (formerly of Keuka Lake Association), Bill Ayling (Otisco Lake Association) James Beckwith (Owasco Watershed Lake Association), George Coolbaugh (Conesus Lake Association), and Jack Schickler (Conesus Lake Association).
